CompositionAntiflu Capsule is used to treat influenza (flu), including H1N1 flu, in adults and children. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing oseltamivir, which belongs to a class of medicines called antivirals (neuraminidase inhibitors).
This medicine is also used to prevent flu in people who have been in close contact with someone who has flu. It works best when started within 48 hours of the first flu symptoms, and can help shorten the illness and reduce its severity. Take it with or without food, although taking it with food may reduce stomach upset, for the full course prescribed by your doctor.
Getting plenty of rest, drinking warm fluids and staying away from others while you are unwell can support recovery and help prevent the flu spreading. Covering coughs and sneezes and washing hands often also help.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, a long-term lung or heart condition, or a weak immune system, and about other medicines or vaccines you have had recently. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Rarely, flu or this medicine may cause confusion or unusual behaviour, especially in children, so watch for any sudden changes and contact a doctor straight away if they occur. Seek medical help if you have breathing difficulty, chest pain or a high fever that does not settle. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
