ALTHROCIN ORAL DROPS 10ML may interact with:

• Antiepileptic medicines (e.g., carbamazepine, phenytoin): Erythromycin may increase blood levels of these medicines, raising the risk of side effects such as dizziness or coordination problems. Dose adjustment or monitoring may be required.
• Medicines affecting heart rhythm (e.g., amiodarone, quinidine, sotalol): Taking these medicines together may increase the risk of serious heart rhythm disturbances because both medicines can affect the electrical activity of the heart. Doctors may avoid this combination or closely monitor treatment if concurrent use is necessary.

Use ALTHROCIN ORAL DROPS 10ML with caution if your child has:

• Liver disease: Since erythromycin is mainly processed in the liver, children with liver problems may be at higher risk of side effects, and dose adjustment or monitoring may be needed.
• Heart rhythm disorders: Children with existing heart rhythm problems may have an increased risk of irregular heartbeat when taking erythromycin, so medical supervision is important.
• Neuromuscular conditions such as myasthenia gravis: Erythromycin may worsen muscle weakness in children with neuromuscular disorders, so treatment should only be given under medical supervision.

Give ALTHROCIN ORAL DROPS 10ML exactly as advised by your child’s doctor. The dose is usually decided based on your child’s age, body weight, and type and severity of infection. Give the medicine at evenly spaced times each day. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without consulting the doctor, even if your child starts feeling better.

Giving more than the prescribed dose may cause stomach upset, vomiting, diarrhoea, or abdominal pain. In some cases, excessive dosing may increase the risk of liver irritation or temporary liver function changes. If you suspect your child has received more than the recommended amount, contact your doctor or visit the nearest medical facility immediately for advice.

If you forget to give a dose, give it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give a double dose to make up for a missed one, as this may increase the risk of side effects.
