Akurit-4 150/75/275/400 MG Tablet 10

Akurit-4 Tablet is prescribed as part of multidrug therapy for the treatment of active tuberculosis (TB). It is used in the initial phase of TB treatment to rapidly reduce the number of tuberculosis bacteria in the body. Additionally, it may be used for other tuberculosis-related mycobacterial infections that are susceptible to the included medications.

• Take Akurit-4 Tablet as directed by your doctor.
• It is recommended to take this tablet on an empty stomach, ideally one hour before a meal, with a full glass of water.
• Do not chew or crush the tablet; swallow it whole.
• Take the medication at the same time each day to maintain consistency and maximise its effectiveness.

Akurit-4 Tablet is taken orally.

The components of Akurit-4 Tablet are as follows:

• Ethambutol (275 mg): It inhibits the synthesis of the mycobacterial cell wall by specifically interfering with the formation of arabinogalactan, a critical component of the cell wall. This disruption weakens the cell wall's structure and function, making tuberculosis bacteria more susceptible to immune systems' defenses and other antimicrobial medications.
• Isoniazid (75 mg): It inhibits the synthesis of mycolic acids, which are essential components of the mycobacterial cell wall. Without mycolic acids, the cell wall loses its integrity, leading to cell death. Isoniazid also disrupts various metabolic pathways within the tuberculosis bacteria.
• Pyrazinamide (400 mg): It is believed to work by disrupting the metabolism of the tuberculosis bacteria. Pyrazinamide is converted into an active form within the bacterial cells, which then disrupts the acidic environment inside these cells, making it inhospitable for the bacteria to survive.
• Rifampicin (150 mg): It inhibits bacterial RNA polymerase, an enzyme responsible for synthesizing RNA from DNA. By binding to and inhibiting this enzyme, rifampicin disrupts the transcription process of the bacterial genes, preventing the production of essential proteins and RNA. This action ultimately leads to the death of the tuberculosis bacteria.

• Store the medication at room temperature (15-25ºC).
• Protect it from light and moisture.
• Keep Akurit-4 Tablet out of the reach of children.
• Do not use the medication after the expiry date has passed.

• Practice deep breathing exercises or pranayama to help improve lung capacity and reduce breathlessness.
• Abstain from alcohol consumption and quit smoking, as it can hinder recovery and worsen lung health.
• During the contagious phase of tuberculosis, avoid close contact with others to prevent the spread of the disease. Follow your doctor’s advice on isolation if needed.
• Practice good hygiene, such as covering your mouth while coughing and washing hands frequently, to prevent the spread of tuberculosis to others.
