ACARBZONE M 500 TABLET 10 is used to help control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes, particularly the sharp rise in blood sugar after meals, when diet and exercise alone are not enough. Good control helps reduce the long-term risk of complications.
It combines acarbose, which slows the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates after meals, and metformin, which improves the body's response to insulin and reduces the glucose made by the liver. Take it with the first bite of each main meal as prescribed.
A diet with controlled carbohydrate content at each meal, regular activity, keeping to a healthy weight and routine blood sugar monitoring support better control alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any kidney or liver problems, bowel conditions or hernias before starting, and about other medicines you take. If a hypoglycaemic episode occurs with this combination, use glucose (not sucrose) to treat it, as acarbose slows the digestion of ordinary sugar.
