Xylocaine Viscous Solution is used to manage localised discomfort, sensory reflexes, and procedural pain in the upper digestive tract.

Uses of Xylocaine Viscous Solution are:

• Mouth and Throat Sores: It eases physical pain and discomfort in the mouth and throat caused by active ulcers.
• Gag Reflex Suppression: It helps suppress the involuntary gag reflex prior to undergoing specific medical or dental procedures.
• Upper Digestive Tract Numbing: It numbs the internal lining of the throat and esophagus to prevent discomfort during endoscopy or intubation.

• Start by shaking the bottle well before use.

• Carefully measure out the required dose using a measuring spoon or cup.

• Swish and gargle the solution in your mouth for about 30 seconds, then spit it out. Do not swallow if you're using it for mouth pain.

• If you're using it for throat pain, gargle and swallow the solution as advised by your doctor.

• Wait at least 3 hours between doses and do not exceed the recommended dose.

• For at least 1 hour after use, avoid eating, chewing gum, or drinking to prevent any choking or biting injuries while your mouth is numb. This is especially important if you are caring for children who have used this medicine.

• Neuronal Membrane Stabilisation: Lidocaine stabilises the membrane of neurons by blocking these sodium channels. This prevents them from generating or propagating action potentials.

• Temporary Loss of Sensation: As a result of this stabilisation, there is a temporary loss of sensation in the area where Xylocaine Viscous Solution has been used. Essentially, this means pain signals are not sent from this area, providing relief from discomfort.

• Store Xylocaine Viscous Solution at room temperature below 30°C.

• Keep it away from light and moisture.

• Do not refrigerate or freeze this solution.

• Always keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.

• Make sure to keep this medicine out of reach of children.

• If you're experiencing oral lesions, try to eat soft or liquid foods that won't irritate the mouth. Avoid spicy or acidic foods until your condition improves.

• Maintain good oral hygiene to help manage mouth ulcers. Brush your teeth regularly, use a soft toothbrush, and rinse your mouth after meals to reduce irritation and prevent infection.
