Vegaz OD Tablet is used to treat and manage ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, two forms of inflammatory bowel disease. It contains mesalazine, which reduces inflammation in the intestines, helping relieve stomach pain, loose motions (diarrhoea) and rectal bleeding.
Mesalazine belongs to a group of medicines called aminosalicylates. Take this tablet whole, without crushing or chewing it, as directed by your doctor. Continue taking it regularly even with no symptoms, as it helps maintain remission and reduces flare-ups. Do not stop it suddenly without speaking to your doctor.
Keeping a food diary to identify trigger foods, eating smaller and more frequent meals, staying well hydrated, and reducing high-fibre or spicy foods during flare-ups can help manage digestive symptoms alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, or a known allergy to aspirin or salicylates. Tell your doctor promptly about worsening stomach pain, unusual bruising or bleeding, or signs of a blood disorder such as unexplained fever or sore throat. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use.
