It contains valacyclovir, an antiviral medicine. It can be taken with or without food. Take it exactly as prescribed and start treatment as soon as symptoms appear, as early treatment gives it the greatest chance of controlling the outbreak. Complete the full course even if you begin to feel better.
Avoiding close skin contact during an active outbreak can help reduce the risk of passing the infection to others. Keeping the affected area clean and dry, and avoiding known triggers such as stress or excessive sun exposure, may also help reduce the frequency of future outbreaks.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have kidney problems, or have a weakened immune system, as your dose may need to be adjusted. Contact your doctor if you notice reduced urination, unusual tiredness, or confusion while taking this medicine.
