Unistar 150 Capsule 10

UNISTAR 150 CAPSULE 10 is used for the following:

• Decreasing the risk of heart attacks and strokes

• Prevention of other cardiovascular complications in high-risk individuals

• Assistance in managing stable or unstable angina

• Control of dyslipidaemia, a condition involving abnormal cholesterol levels

• Helping patients with confirmed coronary artery disease requiring surgical revascularisation like CABG or angioplasty

• Managing peripheral arterial disease, a circulatory issue where narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to the limbs

• Management of diabetes with additional risk factors, to reduce cardiovascular risk

• Lowering high levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood

To use UNISTAR 150 CAPSULE 10 properly:

• Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid chewing, crushing or opening the capsule.

• Do not stop taking this medicine without first consulting your doctor.

UNISTAR 150 CAPSULE 10 is taken orally.

UNISTAR 150 CAPSULE 10 contains two active ingredients that work differently:

• Aspirin (150 mg): This component acts as an antiplatelet agent. It works by blocking an enzyme in your body called cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1). This enzyme produces a substance called thromboxane A2 in blood cells called platelets. By blocking this enzyme, aspirin prevents the formation of harmful blood clots that can cause heart attacks and strokes.

• Rosuvastatin (10 mg): This ingredient belongs to a group of medicines known as statins. It works by blocking an enzyme in your liver that helps produce cholesterol. By doing so, rosuvastatin reduces the cholesterol the liver produces. It also helps your liver absorb more cholesterol from your blood. These actions collectively reduce the risk of heart diseases caused by high cholesterol levels in the blood.

• Stash your UNISTAR 150 CAPSULE 10 in a cool, dry place where the temperature stays below 30°C.

• Keep it shielded from harsh sunlight and moisture.

• Remember that this medicine should be kept well out of reach of children.

• Use any remaining capsules before the expiry date printed on the package.

• Include heart-friendly foods in your diet. Opt for lean meats, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy products. These can help manage cholesterol levels.

• Regular physical activity is key. Try to get at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous activity a week. Regular exercise helps lower your risk of heart disease by keeping your cholesterol and blood pressure in check. Consult with your doctor before starting any new exercise programme.
