Telpres-MT 25 Tablet is used to manage high blood pressure. It may be prescribed alone or in combination with other antihypertensive medicines when additional blood pressure control is required.

Telpres-MT 25 Tablet works on the body through two active ingredients -

Metoprolol Succinate (25 mg): Metoprolol Succinate is a selective β1-adrenergic receptor blocker that works by reducing the heart rate and the force of heart muscle contractions, thereby lowering the amount of blood the heart pumps out. It also lowers the release of renin from the kidneys, which decreases the production of angiotensin II and reduces blood vessel constriction. Additionally, it diminishes the flow of impulses from the central nervous system that stimulate heart action.

Telmisartan (40 mg): Telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), contributes to lowering blood pressure by preventing angiotensin II from binding to receptors in blood vessel muscles and the adrenal gland, leading to reduced vessel constriction and decreased aldosterone production. It also promotes the elimination of sodium and water by the kidneys, which reduces blood volume and further helps in lowering blood pressure.

The combined action of these two components provides a more effective reduction in blood pressure than either component alone.
