Sitapride M 50/500 Tablet Sr 15

Sitapride-M 50/500 Tablet is used for the following:

• Managing blood glucose levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus

• As a supportive medication alongside diet and exercise for controlling blood sugar

• Initial therapy for patients who have not been treated with any antidiabetic medicines before

• As an add-on treatment in patients not achieving desired blood glucose control with metformin or sitagliptin alone

Administer Sitapride-M 50/500 Tablet as follows:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush or chew the tablet.

Sitapride-M 50/500 Tablet is taken orally.

Sitapride-M 50/500 Tablet contains two active ingredients:

• Sitagliptin (50 mg): This component works by inhibiting an enzyme known as dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4). By doing so, sitagliptin increases the levels of active hormones, namely glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). These hormones play a crucial role in enhancing insulin synthesis and release from pancreatic beta cells. Sitagliptin also inhibits glucagon secretion from pancreatic alpha cells, which in turn leads to a decrease in hepatic glucose production.

• Metformin (500 mg): Metformin is a biguanide, functions by reducing the production of glucose in the liver, lowering intestinal absorption of glucose, and enhancing insulin sensitivity. It achieves this by increasing the uptake and utilisation of glucose peripherally. These actions are mediated through the activation of an enzyme known as AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK).

• Maintain an optimal storage temperature below 30°C.

• Protect from direct light and moisture.

• Keep out of reach of children.

• Remember to use the tablet before the expiry date printed on the pack.

• As Sitapride-M 50/500 Tablet is used to manage type 2 diabetes, it is beneficial to maintain a balanced diet with ample fibre intake. Whole grains, fruits, and vegetables can help control your blood glucose levels.

• Regular physical activity is also essential. Aim for moderate exercise like brisk walking or cycling for at least 30 minutes a day, as this can improve your body's ability to use insulin and absorb glucose.
