Sitanorm-M 50/500 Tablet is used for the following:

• Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults

• Enhancing blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes when diet and exercise are not enough

• Use as a substitute when metformin and sitagliptin alone do not provide adequate blood sugar control

Here is how you should take Sitanorm-M 50/500 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush, chew, or split the tablet.

• In case you spot the tablet shell in your stool, do not worry. It is a normal occurrence with this sustained-release formulation.

Sitanorm-M 50/500 Tablet is taken orally.

Sitanorm-M 50/500 Tablet consists of two active ingredients:

• Sitagliptin (50 mg): This ingredient works by inhibiting an enzyme called DPP-4 in your body. This enzyme generally breaks down certain hormones known as incretins. By preventing this breakdown, sitagliptin increases the levels and activity of these incretin hormones. These hormones play a crucial role in increasing insulin production and release from your pancreas and reducing the secretion of glucagon, both actions being dependent on your blood sugar levels. By doing so, sitagliptin helps your body effectively lower blood glucose levels, thereby managing type 2 diabetes.

• Metformin (500 mg): This biguanide antidiabetic agent works by reducing glucose production in your liver, hence limiting the amount of sugar entering your bloodstream. It also increases your body's sensitivity to insulin, which helps your body utilise glucose more effectively. Another action of metformin is delaying glucose absorption from your intestines, further helping manage your blood sugar levels.

• Keep in its original package to protect it from light and moisture.

• Store it at room temperature, ideally below 30°C.
