Sevcar-400 Tablet is used to lower high phosphate levels in the blood in adults with severe kidney disease, including those on dialysis. It contains sevelamer carbonate, a phosphate binder.
Sevelamer carbonate works by binding to phosphate from food in the digestive tract, preventing it from being absorbed into the blood, which helps control blood phosphate levels and protects the bones and blood vessels from the harmful effects of excess phosphate.
Take this tablet with meals, exactly as your doctor prescribes, since it needs to be present with food to bind phosphate effectively, and swallow the tablet whole without crushing or chewing.
Tell your doctor about all other medicines and supplements you take, and leave a gap of at least one hour before or three hours after this medicine when taking other oral medicines, as sevelamer can reduce their absorption. Attend regular blood tests to monitor your phosphate and calcium levels.
