Sevcar-400 Tablet is used to lower high phosphate levels in the blood in adults with severe kidney disease, including those on dialysis. Controlling phosphate helps protect the bones and blood vessels from the harmful effects of long-term kidney disease.
It contains sevelamer, a phosphate binder. Take it with meals as prescribed, swallowing the tablets whole, so it can bind the phosphate from food in the gut. Take it consistently, as steady use is needed to keep phosphate levels controlled.
Diet plays a major part in controlling phosphate. Your doctor or dietitian will usually advise limiting high-phosphate foods such as dairy, processed foods, and cola drinks, alongside any other kidney-related dietary limits.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any swallowing difficulties, bowel problems, or conditions affecting your stomach or intestines. Tell your doctor if you have severe constipation or stomach pain. Speak to your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
