Sevcar 800 Tablet is used for the following:

• Lowering high blood phosphate levels in adults with chronic kidney disease on dialysis

• Preventing serious health issues like bone disorders and cardiovascular disease due to high phosphorus levels

• Helping manage hyperphosphatemia, a condition of excess phosphorus in the blood, in patients undergoing dialysis

Here are some instructions for taking Sevcar 800 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with plenty of water.

• Avoid crushing, chewing, or breaking the tablet.

• Always take this medicine with meals as it works by binding to dietary phosphate.

• For specific dosage advice, always consult your doctor.

Sevcar 800 Tablet is taken orally.

Sevcar 800 Tablet contains sevelamer (800 mg) that works on the body as follows:

• Phosphate Binding: Sevelamer acts by binding to dietary phosphate present in the gastrointestinal tract. This action prevents the phosphate from being absorbed into the bloodstream.

• Lowering Serum Phosphorus: By attaching itself to phosphate from consumed food, sevelamer interferes with phosphate absorption, effectively reducing the concentration of phosphorus in the blood. This is particularly useful in patients whose kidneys are unable to effectively eliminate phosphorus.

• Store your Sevcar 800 Tablet at room temperature, ideally between 20°C to 25°C.

• Protect the medicine from moisture. It's okay if it faces a brief exposure up to 30°C during transport.

• Remember to always keep this medication out of the reach of children.

• Always check the expiry date on the package and use before that.

• As Sevcar 800 Tablet is taken to manage high blood phosphate levels in chronic kidney disease (CKD), try to limit your intake of high-phosphorus foods like dairy products, nuts, chocolate, and beans.

• If you are on dialysis due to CKD, ensure you adhere to your dialysis schedule as skipping or delaying sessions can lead to a build-up of phosphorus in your blood.
