Composition

Ipratropium (0.02 Mg) + Levosalbutamol (0.05 Mg)

Salbair-I Transhaler is used for the relief and management of bronchospasm associated with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It is a combination medicine that contains ipratropium and levosalbutamol and belongs to the bronchodilator class.

It is administered by oral inhalation and should be used in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.

Inform your doctor before using this medicine if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, glaucoma, urinary retention, thyroid disorders, liver disease, kidney disease, or any other medical condition. Also, inform your doctor about all medicines and supplements you are taking. Use this medicine exactly as prescribed and do not discontinue treatment without consulting your doctor. If you experience serious or persistent side effects, consult your doctor.

Uses of Salbair-I Transhaler are:

Bronchospasm associated with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD): This medicine helps relieve airway narrowing and improve breathing.

Follow these instructions while using Salbair-I Transhaler:

Use this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Remove the cap from the inhaler and shake it well before each use.
Breathe out gently and place the mouthpiece between your lips.
Press the inhaler once while breathing in slowly and deeply through your mouth.
Hold your breath for about 5–10 seconds, then breathe out slowly.
If more than one puff is prescribed, wait as advised by your doctor before taking the next puff.
Replace the cap after use and keep the mouthpiece clean.
Follow your doctor's instructions regarding the number of inhalations required.

Salbair-I Transhaler is administered by oral inhalation.

Salbair-I Transhaler may cause some side effects that are usually mild and go away as your body adjusts to the medicine.

A few common side effects of Salbair-I Transhaler:

• Respiratory: Sore throat, stuffy nose, and throat irritation.

• Digestive: Nausea and vomiting.

• Oral: Dry mouth.

• General: Dizziness and headache.

If any side effect does not improve or becomes serious, speak to your doctor. Do not stop taking the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.

Management Of Side Effects:

Ipratropium (20 mcg): Ipratropium is an anticholinergic bronchodilator (medicine that helps open the airways). It works by blocking certain chemical signals that cause the airway muscles to tighten. This helps prevent airway narrowing, keeps the breathing tubes open, and makes breathing easier.
Levosalbutamol (50 mcg): Levosalbutamol is a short-acting beta-2 agonist (quick-acting bronchodilator). It works by relaxing the muscles of the airways, which helps widen the breathing tubes and provides fast relief from breathing difficulty.

Pregnancy

Breastfeeding

Children

Salbair-I Transhaler should be used in children only if prescribed by a doctor. The dose should be carefully followed.

Older Patients

Older adults may be more sensitive to side effects such as a fast heartbeat, tremors, or dizziness. Close monitoring is advised.

Drug-Drug Interactions

Salbair-I Transhaler interacts with the following medicines:

Antihypertensive medicines (e.g., propranolol, atenolol): Beta-blockers may reduce the bronchodilator effect of levosalbutamol and may worsen breathing difficulties. Your doctor may recommend alternative treatment if necessary.

Heart disease: Levosalbutamol may increase heart rate and affect blood pressure. Patients with cardiovascular disease require close monitoring.

Hypokalaemia: Levosalbutamol may further lower potassium levels and increase the risk of complications.

Daily Dose

The daily dose of Salbair-I Transhaler should be used exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The dose depends on the severity of symptoms and individual treatment requirements. Do not change the prescribed dose without consulting your doctor.

Over Dose

Excessive use of Salbair-I Transhaler may increase the risk of tremors, palpitations, chest discomfort, dizziness, nervousness, low potassium levels, and abnormal heart rhythms. Seek immediate medical attention if an overdose is suspected.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Salbair-I Transhaler, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take extra doses to make up for a missed dose.

Store below 30°C.
Protect the inhaler from direct sunlight and excessive heat.
Keep the inhaler in its original packaging when not in use.
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use the medicine after the expiry date mentioned on the pack.

Avoid smoking and exposure to second-hand smoke, as smoking can worsen COPD and reduce treatment effectiveness.
Engage in regular physical activity and breathing exercises recommended by your healthcare professional to help maintain lung function.
Stay up to date with recommended vaccinations, including influenza and pneumococcal vaccines, as advised by your doctor.
Avoid exposure to dust, fumes, air pollution, and other environmental triggers that may worsen breathing difficulties.
