Prolomet AM 50 Tablet is used to manage hypertension and relieve chest pain (angina). This combination of a beta-blocker and a calcium channel blocker slows the heart rate and relaxes blood vessels, which reduces the heart's workload and lowers the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Follow these instructions while taking Prolomet AM 50 Tablet:

• Swallow the whole tablet with a glass of water.
• Avoid crushing, chewing or splitting the tablet.
• Make sure you take the tablet at the same time every day for the best results.
• Don't stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor first.

Prolomet AM 50 Tablet is taken orally.

Prolomet AM 50 Tablet consists of two active ingredients:

• Metoprolol Succinate (47.5 mg): This beta blocker primarily affects the heart by blocking the effects of catecholamines like epinephrine at beta-1 receptors. This action slows down the heart rate and reduces the force with which the heart muscle contracts. Metoprolol also decreases the release of renin from the kidneys, thereby decreasing the production of angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor. The overall effect reduces both blood pressure and workload on the heart.
• Amlodipine (5 mg): This medicine belongs to the dihydropyridine class of calcium channel blockers. It works by stopping calcium ions from entering vascular smooth muscle cells and cardiac muscle cells. This action helps relax and widen your blood vessels (vasodilation), allowing blood to flow more easily, reducing blood pressure, and improving blood supply to your heart muscle.

• Store Prolomet AM 50 Tablet at temperature, not exceeding 30°C.
• Keep away from direct light and moisture.
• Always keep this medicine out of reach of children.

• Moderate your salt intake to manage hypertension. Too much salt can raise blood pressure, so try to limit your daily intake.
• Regular physical activity can help lower high blood pressure. Try to incorporate at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity, like walking or cycling, into your week.
