Primacort-100 Injection is used for the rapid treatment of severe medical emergencies including severe asthma attacks, life-threatening allergic reactions (anaphylaxis), and acute adrenal crisis. It also helps manage serious inflammatory, autoimmune, and certain cancer-related conditions in hospital settings.
It contains hydrocortisone sodium succinate, a potent corticosteroid given by intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) injection by a healthcare professional. It is a short-course, hospital-based treatment and is not used for long-term self-administration.
Blood sugar, blood pressure, and electrolyte levels are usually monitored during treatment. Inform the medical team about any infections, diabetes, or high blood pressure before receiving this injection.
Before receiving this injection, tell the medical team about any active infections, diabetes, high blood pressure, or allergy to hydrocortisone. Also disclose any fungal infections, as corticosteroids can worsen them. Speak to your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
