Primacort-100 Injection is used in hospital for the rapid treatment of severe medical emergencies, including severe asthma attacks, life-threatening allergic reactions and acute adrenal crisis, and to control serious inflammatory and autoimmune conditions.
It contains hydrocortisone, a corticosteroid. It works by quickly reducing inflammation and calming an overactive immune response.
It is given into a vein or muscle by a healthcare professional. It is a short-course hospital treatment, not for long-term self-use.
Tell the medical team about any infection, diabetes or high blood pressure before it is given, especially any fungal infection, as steroids can worsen these. Your blood sugar, blood pressure and body salts may be monitored.
