Phlogam Forte Tablet is used to help reduce swelling, pain and inflammation after injuries and surgery. It is a combination medicine containing bromelain and trypsin (protein-digesting enzymes) and rutoside (a plant flavonoid), and belongs to a group of medicines called anti-inflammatory enzyme preparations.
This medicine is also used to ease swelling and discomfort after dental procedures, sprains and sports injuries, and in some joint conditions. It may help the body clear the by-products of inflammation and support recovery of movement. Take it before meals, in the dose and for the duration prescribed by your doctor.
Resting and raising the injured area, applying a cold compress in the first few days and gentle movement once your doctor agrees can support healing.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have a bleeding or clotting disorder, a stomach ulcer, an allergy to pineapple or other enzymes, or if you are due to have surgery, and about other medicines you take, especially blood thinners or antibiotics. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Contact your doctor if you notice unusual bleeding or bruising, a rash or signs of an allergic reaction. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
