CompositionOmnacortil 20 Tablet is used to reduce inflammation and calm an overactive immune system in conditions such as asthma, allergies, rheumatic disorders, lupus and skin or eye diseases. It is a single-ingredient corticosteroid medicine containing prednisolone.
This medicine is also sometimes used alongside cancer treatment to control inflammation. Take it with food in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop it suddenly, as the dose must be reduced gradually under medical guidance.
Long-term steroid use can weaken bones and raise blood sugar, so eat a diet rich in calcium and vitamin D, limit salt and added sugar, and do regular weight-bearing exercise as advised. Avoid close contact with people who have chickenpox or measles, as this medicine can lower your resistance to infection.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have an infection or diabetes, or have used steroids for a long time, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Report signs of infection, marked mood changes or unusual weight gain. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
