Oflox Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections of the urinary tract, chest, skin and reproductive organs. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing ofloxacin 200mg, which belongs to a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones.
This medicine is also used to treat some sexually transmitted infections, such as gonorrhoea and chlamydia, and pelvic inflammatory disease together with other antibiotics. Swallow the tablet whole with water, and avoid taking it within 2 hours of antacids, iron, zinc or calcium supplements. Complete the full course prescribed by your doctor.
Drinking plenty of water supports recovery. Protect your skin from strong sunlight and sunbeds during treatment, as this medicine can make it burn more easily.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have tendon problems, epilepsy, myasthenia gravis, a heart rhythm problem, diabetes or kidney disease, and about other medicines you take. It is not usually recommended for children, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Stop taking it and contact your doctor straight away if you get tendon pain or swelling, tingling or numbness, mood changes, or severe diarrhoea. Do not stop taking this medicine for any other reason unless your doctor advises you to do so.
