Myonit SR 2.6 Tablet is used to help prevent angina attacks (chest pain caused by the heart not getting enough blood) and to reduce the burden on the heart. It is used for ongoing prevention, not for stopping an acute attack that has already started.
It contains glyceryl trinitrate in a sustained-release form. Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew it. Take it as prescribed and do not stop it abruptly. Do not take medicines for erectile dysfunction (such as sildenafil) while on nitrates, as this can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
Keeping to a heart-healthy lifestyle helps reduce angina triggers. Quitting smoking, a balanced low-fat diet, staying active within the limits your doctor advises, and managing stress all reduce the strain on your heart.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about low blood pressure, severe anaemia, or a history of heart attack, and about all other medicines you take. Tell your doctor if chest pain is not improving or is worsening. Speak to your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
