Nitrocontin 2.6 CR Tablet is used for the long-term prevention of chronic stable angina in adults with coronary artery disease, helping to reduce the frequency and severity of chest pain episodes. It is not for the relief of a sudden angina attack.
It contains glyceryl trinitrate in a controlled-release form. Take it as prescribed; swallow the tablet whole and do not stop it without medical advice, as stopping suddenly can worsen angina.
A heart-healthy diet, quitting smoking and keeping to all monitoring appointments support your treatment alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any very low blood pressure, severe anaemia or raised pressure in the skull before starting. This medicine must not be taken with erectile dysfunction medicines (phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors), as the combination causes a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Report severe or persistent headache promptly.
