CompositionGTN Sorbitrate-CR 2.6 Tablet is used to prevent and manage chest pain (angina pectoris) caused by reduced blood flow and oxygen to the heart muscle. It helps improve exercise tolerance and reduces the frequency of angina attacks in patients with coronary artery disease.
It contains glyceryl trinitrate, which belongs to the nitrate class of cardiovascular medicines. Take it whole with water as prescribed, without crushing or chewing the tablet. Continue taking it regularly as prescribed even when you have no chest pain, as it works continuously to prevent symptoms.
Lifestyle modifications support angina management. These include maintaining a heart-healthy diet low in saturated fats, quitting smoking, engaging in light physician-approved physical activity, and avoiding sudden physical overexertion.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have severe anaemia, low blood pressure, or recent head injury. Do not take erectile dysfunction medicines (such as sildenafil or tadalafil) alongside GTN Sorbitrate-CR, as the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
