Methergin Tablet 10

• Management of placenta after delivery of child: The methergin tablet increases muscle stiffness and the speed and strength of contractions, which helps remove the placenta after the delivery. 
• Managing postpartum atony (it is a condition characterised by a soft and weak uterus): Methergin tablet works by increasing the contractions of muscles and changing muscle stiffness. It also reduces blood loss and shortens the labour period. 
• Postpartum haemorrhage ( bleeding after childbirth): The contractions in the uterus muscle and any muscle changes concerning strength and tone help reduce postpartum (after childbirth) bleeding. Methergin tablet is indicated for usually one week by oral route.
• Subinvolution (Its a condition characterised by no decrease in uterus size after pregnancy): Contractions of the uterus muscle accompanied by changes in the tone of the muscle help in subinvolution.

Follow your pharmacist or doctor’s directions for using Methergin tablet. Below are the general instructions for reference. 

• Take the tablet with a glass of water.
• Swallow the tablet as a whole, do not crush or chew it.
• This medication can be taken with or without, but it is advisable to take it at a fixed time.

• Methergin tablet can be taken orally.

• Medicine activity of Methergin tablet is by directly acting on the uterus muscles and increasing the rhythmic contractions of uterus muscles with altered or change in speed and strength of muscle. Which results in long-duration contractions, this will help shorten labour duration and reduces blood loss.

• Store this medicine at room temperature (15-25ºC).
• Protect it from light and moisture.
• Keep Methergin tablet away from children.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date has passed.

• Drink plenty of fluids like juices, plain water and milk
• Take adequate rest 
• Limit the processed food intake, sugary foods and saturated fats 
• Include fibre-rich foods in your diet, like cereals and fresh fruits & vegetables 
• Exercise appropriately

• Methergin tablet are indicated for the prevention and control of loss of blood after delivery.
• It is also used for the management of last-stage labour
• To facilitate the removal of the placenta 
• It should be avoided in patients with high blood pressure and heart diseases.
