Methergin Tablet is a medicine used to control and prevent heavy bleeding after childbirth (postpartum haemorrhage) by helping the uterus contract effectively. It is also used to manage uterine subinvolution (incomplete return of the uterus to its normal size after delivery) and related bleeding. It contains methylergometrine.
Take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor and for the duration specified. Do not take additional doses or continue the medicine beyond what is prescribed without medical advice.
During the postpartum period, rest adequately, maintain adequate fluid and nutritional intake, and attend all follow-up appointments to monitor recovery. Report any persistent or increasing bleeding, severe stomach cramps, or changes in your condition to your doctor right away.
This medicine must not be used during pregnancy, as it can cause serious harm. It should be used with caution in women with high blood pressure, pre-eclampsia, liver or kidney problems, or a history of heart disease. Tell your doctor about all medicines you are currently taking before starting this treatment.
