Meftal-500 Tablet is used to relieve pain and inflammation in the joints, muscles and soft tissues, and to ease menstrual cramps. It helps reduce discomfort from conditions such as sports injuries, muscle strains and period pain.
It contains mefenamic acid, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Take it after food to reduce the chance of stomach irritation, and take it as prescribed for the shortest time needed to control your symptoms.
Staying well hydrated and applying a warm compress to painful areas can add to the comfort this medicine provides. Avoid excessive alcohol, as this can increase the chance of stomach irritation while taking an NSAID.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have a history of stomach ulcers, kidney or liver problems, asthma, or heart disease. Tell your doctor if you notice black stools, persistent stomach pain or unusual bruising, as these may need urgent attention. It is not suitable during the later stages of pregnancy.
