CompositionMahaflox 0.5% Eye Drops is used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis, an infection of the thin, clear layer covering the white of the eye. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing moxifloxacin, which belongs to a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones.
This medicine works only against eye infections caused by bacteria and will not treat viral or fungal eye infections. It is for use in the eye only. Wash your hands before use, put the drops into the affected eye as directed by your doctor, and do not let the dropper tip touch your eye or any surface. Use it for the full time prescribed, even if your eye looks better.
Avoid rubbing your eyes, wash your hands regularly, and do not share towels, pillows or eye make-up while you have an infection. Do not wear contact lenses while you have signs of infection, or until your doctor advises.
Before using this medicine, tell your doctor if you are allergic to moxifloxacin or other fluoroquinolone antibiotics, and about other eye conditions and any other eye drops or medicines you use. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Contact your doctor if your eye becomes more painful, swollen or red, your vision changes, or there is no improvement within a few days. Do not stop using this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
