Loxof Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, sinuses, urinary tract, kidneys, prostate and skin. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing levofloxacin 500mg, which belongs to a class of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones.

This medicine is used for infections such as pneumonia, sinusitis, flare-ups of chronic bronchitis, complicated urinary and kidney infections, long-term prostate infection and skin infections, usually when other antibiotics are not suitable. Swallow the tablet with water, and take it at least 2 hours before or after antacids, iron, zinc or calcium. Complete the full course as prescribed.

Drink plenty of water during treatment, and protect your skin from strong sunlight and sunbeds, as this medicine can make the skin burn more easily.

Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have tendon problems, epilepsy, myasthenia gravis, a heart rhythm problem, diabetes, kidney disease or an aortic aneurysm, and about other medicines you take. It is not usually recommended for children, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Stop taking it and contact your doctor straight away if you get tendon pain or swelling, tingling or numbness, sudden severe chest or back pain, mood changes, or severe diarrhoea. Do not stop taking this medicine for any other reason unless your doctor advises you to do so.
