CompositionLizoforce 600 Tablet is used to treat serious bacterial infections, such as pneumonia and complicated skin infections, including those caused by bacteria resistant to other antibiotics, such as MRSA. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing linezolid 600mg, which belongs to a class of antibiotics called oxazolidinones.
This medicine is also used for complicated skin and soft tissue infections, including some diabetic foot infections, and for certain infections caused by vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE). Take it with or without food, exactly as prescribed, and complete the full course. It is usually not given for more than 28 days.
Avoid large amounts of foods and drinks rich in tyramine, such as aged cheese, soy sauce, cured or fermented meats, and tap beer, as they can raise blood pressure with this medicine. Rest and drink enough fluids while you recover.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure, a blood disorder, an overactive thyroid, or a history of seizures, and about all other medicines you take, especially antidepressants, as serious interactions can occur. Your doctor may check your blood counts if treatment lasts more than 2 weeks. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Contact your doctor straight away if you notice unusual bruising or bleeding, tiredness, changes in vision, numbness or tingling, or fast breathing with nausea. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
