Liofen XL Capsule is used to treat muscle stiffness and rigidity associated with multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, and motor neuron disease. It also helps reduce muscle spasms caused by spinal cord injuries and improves movement and pain in patients recovering from stroke or brain injury.

Here's how you should take Liofen XL Capsule:

• Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid crushing, chewing, or breaking the capsule.

• The medicine is taken after food or after the main meal of the day.

• In case you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one.

• Always follow your doctor's instructions on how and when to take this medicine.

Liofen XL Capsule is taken orally.

Liofen XL Capsule contains baclofen (20 mg) which works in the body as follows:

• Binds to GABA-B Receptors: Baclofen acts on the central nervous system by binding to gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors in your body. GABA is a neurotransmitter that blocks impulses between nerve cells in the brain.

• Reduces Muscle Spasticity: By binding to the GABA-B receptors, baclofen inhibits the release of excitatory neurotransmitters and reduces the transmission of reflexes at the spinal level. This helps relax skeletal muscles while maintaining their strength and alleviating painful spasms and stiffness.

• Keep your Liofen XL Capsule at room temperature, ideally below 30°C.

• Store it in a dry place, protected from light and moisture.

• Make sure the capsule is out of reach and sight of children.

• Always check the expiry date on the pack and avoid using the medicine post expiration.

• Regular physical therapy can help manage muscle spasticity. It's beneficial to perform stretches and exercises that your doctor recommends.
