Liofen XL Capsule is used to manage muscle spasticity, stiffness, rigidity, and spasms caused by neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, motor neuron disease, spinal cord injuries, and stroke. It helps improve movement, reduce pain, and support daily functioning.
It contains baclofen, a skeletal muscle relaxant that acts on GABA-B receptors in the spinal cord to inhibit the nerve signals responsible for muscle spasticity. The extended-release formulation provides sustained, stable levels of the medicine throughout the day, reducing the frequency of dosing.
Take the capsule whole with water as directed. Do not crush or chew the capsule, as this destroys the extended-release mechanism. Follow the dose and schedule prescribed by your doctor, and do not stop the medicine suddenly, withdrawal can cause serious effects.
Drowsiness and dizziness are common, particularly at the start of treatment. Tell your doctor about any kidney disease, history of seizures, or psychiatric conditions, and inform them about all other medicines you are taking.
