This medication contains Levetiracetam. Unlike older seizure medicines, it works by binding to a specific protein (SV2A) in the brain's nerve terminals. This action helps regulate the release of chemical messengers, preventing the brain from sending out the high-frequency electrical bursts that cause a seizure. It has a low risk of interacting with other medications.
Take this tablet twice daily (morning and evening) at the same time each day, with or without food. Consistency is key to preventing ""breakthrough"" seizures. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, but do not double up. Inform your doctor if you experience any significant changes in mood, such as increased irritability or sadness. Your doctor may adjust the dose if you have kidney issues.
