Helping to manage partial-onset seizures in epilepsy
Used as an additional medication for patients aged 4 and above, whose seizures aren't adequately controlled by other anti-epileptic medications

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Do not crush or chew the tablet.

Lacopsy 100 Tablet may cause:

Dizziness
Vertigo
Blurred vision
Headache
Nausea, vomiting
Fatigue

Double vision

Management Of Side Effects:

Nausea, vomiting: Try taking Lacopsy 100 Tablet with food or after meals to lessen this effect.

Stabilises Hyper-Excitable Neurons: Lacosamide selectively enhances the slow inactivation of voltage-gated sodium channels. These channels are proteins that let sodium ions into neurons and play a crucial role in neuronal excitability. By stabilising these hyper-excitable neurons, lacosamide makes them less likely to fire uncontrollably, which is what happens during a seizure.
Modulates Sodium Channels: Unlike some other seizure medications, Lacosamide does not affect the levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain. Its selective action on sodium channels offers an alternative pathway to reducing neuronal excitability, thereby helping to manage abnormal brain activity that causes seizures.
