Heptavir 100 Tablet 10 is used for the following:

• Treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus infection

• Controlling viral multiplication in hepatitis B

• Reducing liver damage from hepatitis B

• Improving immune system function in hepatitis B patients

• Preventing complications of chronic hepatitis B

• Decreasing viral load in the body

• Combination therapy for HIV infection

• Managing long-term hepatitis B infection

Follow these instructions while taking Heptavir 100 Tablet 10:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.

• Take this medicine at the same time each day.

• You may take this tablet with or without food.

Heptavir 100 Tablet 10 is taken orally.

Heptavir 100 Tablet 10 contains lamivudine (100 mg), which works on the body as follows:

• Inhibits Viral Reverse Transcriptase: Lamivudine blocks the activity of an enzyme called reverse transcriptase, which is essential for the hepatitis B virus to multiply within human cells.

• Prevents Viral DNA Formation: By interfering with the reverse transcriptase enzyme, lamivudine prevents the virus from converting its genetic material into a form that can be incorporated into the host cell's DNA.

• Reduces Viral Replication: Through these mechanisms, lamivudine effectively decreases the production of new viruses in the body, helping to control the infection and limit further liver damage.

• Improves Immune Response: By reducing the viral load in the body, lamivudine helps the immune system function better against the remaining virus particles.

• Store at room temperature.

• Keep the medicine away from direct light and moisture.

• Choose foods low in fat and high in fibre to support liver health. Include plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grains that support liver health
