Gravitor Tablet is used for the following:

• Management of myasthenia gravis: This condition is characterised by muscle weakness and fatigue.

• Handling paralytic ileus: This is a situation where the muscles in your intestines stop working properly.

• Addressing postoperative urinary retention: This complication arises when patients find it hard to urinate after having surgery.

Here are some guidelines on how to take Gravitor Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

• Avoid crushing, chewing, or splitting the tablet.

• It's important not to stop taking this medicine without first consulting your doctor.

• Take this medicine on an empty stomach, either 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.

Gravitor Tablet is taken orally.

Gravitor Tablet contains pyridostigmine (60 mg), which works in the body as follows:

• Enzyme Inhibition: Pyridostigmine temporarily stops the action of an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase. This enzyme breaks down acetylcholine, a chemical that transmits signals between nerve cells and muscle cells.

• Acetylcholine Increase: By inhibiting acetylcholinesterase, pyridostigmine effectively increases acetylcholine levels at nerve-muscle junctions. This leads to improved nerve signal transmission and muscle contraction.

• Muscle Strength Improvement: The increased acetylcholine enhances nerve-to-muscle communications. This helps reduce muscle weakness associated with conditions like myasthenia gravis.

• Intestinal Muscle Contraction Promotion: In the intestines, more acetylcholine means more muscle contractions, helping manage conditions such as paralytic ileus.

• Urinary Bladder Muscle Contraction Enhancement: In cases of postoperative urinary retention, pyridostigmine improves bladder muscle contractions by increasing acetylcholine activity.

• Keep Gravitor Tablet in a tightly closed container at room temperature, ideally between 20°C to 25°C.

• The tablet is sensitive to moisture, so keep the desiccant sachet inside the bottle.

• Store this medicine out of sight and reach of children.

• Always check the expiry date before use and avoid using any expired tablets.

• If you're managing myasthenia gravis with Gravitor Tablet, include potassium-rich foods like bananas, oranges, and sweet potatoes in your diet. They can help maintain muscle function.
