Glucreta L 5/5 Tablet 10 is used to control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes, together with diet and exercise, when a single medicine is not enough. It is a combination medicine containing dapagliflozin 5mg, an SGLT2 inhibitor, and linagliptin 5mg, a DPP-4 inhibitor.
Dapagliflozin helps the kidneys remove extra sugar in the urine, while linagliptin helps the body release more insulin after meals. Take it once a day in the morning, with or without food, and drink enough fluids, as you will pass more urine. The 5mg dapagliflozin strength is often used as a starting dose.
A balanced diet, regular physical activity and keeping a healthy weight are essential. Keeping the genital area clean and dry helps reduce the risk of yeast infections.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, type 1 diabetes, a history of ketoacidosis or pancreatitis, frequent urinary infections, or low blood pressure, and about other medicines you take, especially insulin, sulfonylureas or water tablets. Your doctor may pause it before surgery or if you are unwell and not eating. Seek medical help straight away for nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, deep or fast breathing or unusual tiredness, even if your blood sugar is not very high, as this can signal ketoacidosis, and for pain, redness or swelling in the genital area with fever. Also seek help for severe stomach pain spreading to the back or blistering skin. Do not take it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
