CompositionGluconorm Pg 2 Tablet is an antidiabetic medicine used to manage blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is a combination medicine containing glimepiride, which helps the pancreas release insulin, metformin, which reduces sugar made by the liver, and pioglitazone, which helps the body respond better to insulin, and belongs to classes of medicines called sulfonylureas, biguanides and thiazolidinediones.
This medicine works by increasing insulin release, improving the body's response to insulin and reducing glucose production in the liver, which helps keep blood sugar within the target range and may help prevent complications such as nerve and kidney damage. Take it exactly as your doctor prescribes, usually with food, at the same time each day.
A balanced diet, regular physical activity and routine blood sugar checks work alongside this tablet. Keep a sugar source with you in case of low blood sugar.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have kidney, liver or heart problems, heart failure, bladder problems, or if you drink alcohol, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are due to have a scan with contrast dye. It can cause low blood sugar, and metformin can rarely cause lactic acidosis. Get urgent help for sudden weight gain, swelling, breathlessness, or unusual tiredness with muscle pain or fast breathing.
