Glimestar 2 Tablet is used to manage high blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is a single-ingredient sulphonylurea containing glimepiride.
It helps prevent long-term diabetes complications such as kidney damage, eye problems and nerve damage. Take it with your first main meal of the day in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor, and keep to regular mealtimes to lower the risk of low blood sugar.
Do not skip or delay meals. Keep portions of rice, roti and sweets under control, stay physically active as advised and always carry a source of sugar in case of a low blood sugar episode.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have kidney, liver or heart problems, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Mention if you are due for surgery or contrast imaging. Be alert to signs of low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia), such as sweating, shakiness or confusion. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
