CompositionGLIMESTAR 2 Tablet is a medicine used to manage high blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. It contains glimepiride, and supports the prevention of long-term diabetes complications such as kidney damage, eye problems and nerve damage.
Glimepiride works by stimulating the pancreas to produce and release more insulin, which helps lower blood sugar levels in people whose bodies still produce some insulin but not enough to control glucose on their own.
Take this tablet daily with your first main meal of the day, exactly as your doctor prescribes, and keep to regular mealtimes to lower the risk of low blood sugar.
Tell your doctor about any kidney, liver or heart problems, and mention if you are due for surgery or contrast imaging. Be alert to symptoms of hypoglycaemia, such as sweating, shakiness or confusion.
