Gerbisa Suppository is used to relieve occasional constipation in children aged 2–10 years. It helps stimulate bowel movements when dietary changes, hydration, and exercise are not sufficient and is also used to clear the bowels before certain medical procedures or examinations.

To use Gerbisa Suppository for your child, follow these steps:

• This medicine is intended for rectal use only.

• The suppository should be unwrapped and moistened with water before insertion.

• Encourage your child to retain the suppository for at least 15-20 minutes to allow for optimal absorption and effectiveness.

Gerbisa Suppository is inserted rectally to your child.

Gerbisa Suppository contains bisacodyl (5 MG), which acts in the body as follows:

• Conversion into Active Metabolite: Once administered rectally, bisacodyl is rapidly absorbed by the intestinal lining and converted into its active metabolite, bis-(p-hydroxyphenyl)-pyridyl-2-methane (BHPM).

• Stimulation of Nerve Endings: BHPM then stimulates the nerve endings in the walls of the intestines. This stimulation increases peristaltic movements, which are wave-like contractions that propel stool through the digestive tract.

• Accumulation of Water and Electrolytes: Concurrently, BHPM also promotes the accumulation of water and electrolytes in the colon. This dual action helps soften the stool and facilitate its passage through the bowels.

• Store Gerbisa Suppository at room temperature below 25°C.

• Avoid direct exposure to heat and moisture.

• Keep the medicine in its original package until it's time to use it.

• Ensure your child doesn't have access to the medicine storage area.
