Gemer 2 Tablet is used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It is a combination medicine containing glimepiride and metformin, which belong to the classes of sulphonylurea and biguanide antidiabetic medicines.
This medicine is also used when diet, exercise and either glimepiride or metformin alone are not enough to control blood sugar. Take it by mouth with food, usually with the first meal of the day, at the same time each day. Swallow the tablet whole with water and do not skip meals. Use the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Follow the eating plan advised by your doctor or dietitian, keep your meals regular and stay physically active. These measures support, but do not replace, this medicine.
Before starting this medicine, tell your doctor about any kidney, liver or thyroid problems, and about any other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and avoid alcohol. Learn the signs of low blood sugar, such as sweating, shaking, hunger or confusion, and keep a fast-acting source of sugar with you. Report extreme tiredness, unusual muscle pain or fast breathing to your doctor straight away. Report any side effect that is persistent or serious. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
