Formosone 250 Respicap is used for the following:

• Long-term maintenance management of asthma in adults

• Management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) symptoms in adults with severe COPD

• Reduction of frequent flare-ups in patients with severe COPD who experience significant symptoms despite regular therapy with long-acting bronchodilators.

Administer Formosone 250 Respicap as follows:

• Use the Respicap inhaler device provided to inhale the contents of the capsule.

• After inhaling, rinse your mouth with water without swallowing to minimise the risk of oral infections like candidiasis.

• For specific instructions on dosage and duration, consult your doctor.

Formosone 250 Respicap is administered via inhalation, using a special device called a Respicap.

Formosone 250 Respicap comprises two active ingredients:

• Fluticasone Propionate (250 mcg): This synthetic corticosteroid has potent anti-inflammatory activity. It works by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor in your body, which regulates various inflammatory genes. This action reduces the recruitment and activation of inflammatory cells, decreasing airway hyperresponsiveness and inhibiting inflammatory responses.

• Formoterol Fumarate (6 mcg): This long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist facilitates bronchodilation by relaxing bronchial smooth muscle. It stimulates intracellular adenyl cyclase, leading to an increase in cyclic AMP levels. These increased levels promote relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle and prevent the release of mediators of immediate hypersensitivity from cells.

• Keep Formosone 250 Respicap stored below 25°C in a dry place.

• Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and excess moisture.

• Ensure the capsules are used within three months of opening the foil pouch.

• Always keep this medicine out of the reach of children.

• Keep an eye on the expiry date and don’t use it past this point.

• If you're managing asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with Formosone 250 Respicap, you should aim to avoid exposure to tobacco smoke, as it can exacerbate your symptoms. Quitting smoking or avoiding second-hand smoke can help improve your lung health.

• Regular, gentle exercise like walking or yoga can also be beneficial for lung function. However, consult your doctor before starting any new exercise regimen.
