Dosage Forms Available

• Fluticasone Propionate + Formoterol Fumarate is available as an inhaled medication (metered dose inhaler (MDI) and dry powder inhaler (DPI)).

Age and Dose Restrictions

• This medication is advised for adults and children who are 12 years of age or o lder.

Contraindications

• Fluticasone Propionate + Formoterol Fumarate is contraindicated in individuals who have severe hypersensitivity to any component of the medication. Patients with status asthmaticus or other acutely deteriorating asthma or COPD should not use this combination.

Other Medications to Avoid

• Fluticasone Propionate + Formoterol Fumarate may interact with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (such as ketoconazole and ritonavir), beta-blockers (such as propranolol and metoprolol), diuretics (such as furosemide and hydrochlorothiazide), monoamine oxidase inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants (like phenelzine and amitriptyline).

Overdose and Missed Dose

• Taking more than the prescribed dose may cause an increased heart rate, chest pain, tremors, or, in severe cases, seizures. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical attention immediately.

• If you miss a dose of Fluticasone Propionate + Formoterol Fumarate, use it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular schedule. Do not use two doses at once to make up for a missed dose.

Management of Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless and resolve when discontinuing this medicine. However, if you experience any severe side effects or worsening of any symptoms, please consult your doctor.

• If you experience dry mouth, try sipping water frequently or chewing sugar-free gum to stimulate saliva production.

• If you have a sore throat or cough after using the inhaler, try rinsing your mouth with water immediately after each dose.

Use in Driving and Operating Machinery

• As Fluticasone Propionate + Formoterol Fumarate can cause dizziness or blurred vision, it may affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. Avoid these activities if you experience these symptoms after using the medication.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• The use of Fluticasone Propionate + Formoterol Fumarate during pregnancy or lactation should only be if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus or infant. Always consult with your doctor before starting this medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Caution in Other Conditions

• Patients with cardiovascular disorders, convulsive disorders, diabetes, or hepatic impairment should exercise caution when using Fluticasone Propionate + Formoterol Fumarate.

• This medication can also cause a significant decrease in serum potassium and increases in blood glucose levels. Caution should be exercised in patients predisposed to low potassium levels.

• Avoid exposure to allergens or irritants such as smoke, dust, pollen, or pet dander that can trigger asthma or COPD symptoms.
