Flumet Plus Tablet 1

Flumet Plus Tablet is used for managing the following conditions:

• Yeast infections in the vagina

• Fungal infections in the mouth and throat

• Cryptococcal meningitis, a fungal infection in the brain

• Prevention of fungal infections in patients having a bone marrow transplant

• Strongyloidiasis, an intestinal infection by a specific type of worm

• Onchocerciasis, commonly known as river blindness.

To make sure you use Flumet Plus Tablet correctly, follow these steps:

• Take this medicine with or without food.

• Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water.

• Avoid crushing or chewing the tablet.

• Stick to your doctor's recommended dose. Don't take more or less without consulting your doctor.

• Remember not to stop taking this medicine without speaking to your doctor first.

Flumet Plus Tablet is taken orally.

Flumet Plus Tablet contains two active ingredients:

• Fluconazole (150 mg): This antifungal ingredient works by inhibiting a crucial step in fungal ergosterol biosynthesis, namely the sterol C-14 alpha-demethylation. The inhibition of this process leads to a deficiency of ergosterol, an important component of the fungal cell membrane. An accumulation of 14 alpha-methyl sterols occurs, leading to fungistatic activity.

• Ivermectin (6 mg): Ivermectin, an anti-parasitic agent, selectively binds with high affinity to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells. This increases the cell membrane's permeability to chloride ions, leading to hyperpolarization of the nerve or muscle cell. This causes paralysis and subsequent death of the parasite.

• Keep your Flumet Plus Tablet in a cool, dry place where the temperature stays below 30°C.

• Avoid storing the medicine in direct light or in damp places like the bathroom.

• Always ensure the medicine is kept out of reach of children.

• Check the expiry date on the pack and do not use the medicine beyond this date.

• If you're managing fungal infections, consider reducing your intake of sugars and refined carbs, which can promote fungal growth.

• For parasitic infections, maintaining good hygiene can help prevent reinfection. This includes washing hands regularly, especially before meals and after using the toilet.
