Epifast 500 Tablet is used to treat various types of seizures associated with epilepsy, including partial-onset, myoclonic and generalised tonic-clonic seizures. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing levetiracetam, and belongs to a class of medicines called anti-epileptics.
Regular use of this medicine reduces how often seizures occur. Take it at the same times each day, with or without food, and never change your dose without medical advice. Use the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Getting regular sleep and avoiding alcohol can support seizure control alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any kidney problems before starting this medicine, and about any other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Speak to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Tell your doctor if you notice new low mood, irritability, unusual behaviour or thoughts of self-harm, and report any side effects that persist or become serious. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, even if you feel well, or unless your doctor advises you to do so, as this can trigger seizures.
