• Diuretics: Doxcef 200 mg tablet and furosemide may raise the risk of kidney damage. Both medicines can create electrolyte imbalances, such as low potassium levels, leading to kidney issues. As a result, administering both drugs together should be done with care, and renal function and electrolytes should be closely tracked.
• Blood thinner: Doxcef 200 mg tablet may interact with the blood thinner warfarin, increasing the risk of bleeding. Cefpodoxime can disrupt vitamin K metabolism, which is required for blood coagulation. This combination can cause excessive bleeding or bruising. When using these drugs together, prothrombin time (PT/INR) must be monitored regularly.
• Supplements: Supplements, including calcium and vitamin D, can reduce the absorption of the Doxcef 200 mg tablet. Taking these supplements at least two hours before or after taking a Doxcef 200 mg tablet is advised to prevent interaction.
• Antacids: Combining Doxcef 200 mg tablet with antacids such as sodium bicarbonate, aluminium hydroxide, and magnesium hydroxide can reduce antibiotic absorption. Cimetidine, ranitidine, and loratadine can all interfere with cefpodoxime absorption. To avoid interaction, use antacids and other drugs at least two hours before or after taking Doxcef 200 mg tablet.
• Drugs used to treat excess uric acid: Simultaneous consumption of Doxcef 200 mg tablet with probenecid, a drug used to treat high uric acid, can raise cefpodoxime levels in the blood. Probenecid reduces the excretion of cefpodoxime, which can result in increased antibiotic concentrations in the blood. As a result, when taking these medications together, the Doxcef 200 mg tablet dose may need to be changed.

• Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea (CDAD): Doxcef 200 mg tablet is an antibiotic that can alter normal gut flora, leading to C. difficile overgrowth and, ultimately, CDAD. Patients with a history of CDAD or those at risk should be regularly monitered while taking Doxcef 200 mg tablet.

The recommended daily dose of Doxcef 200 mg tablet once a day, with food, as directed by your doctor. The dosage may change based on individual factors such as the severity of the condition and response to treatment. It is essential to follow the prescribed dosage and not exceed it without consulting your doctor.
