Dilzem 60 Tablet is used to prevent chest pain (angina) and to help lower high blood pressure. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing diltiazem 60mg, which belongs to a class of medicines called calcium channel blockers.
This medicine relaxes the blood vessels and slightly slows the heart rate, improving the heart's blood supply and reducing its workload. It prevents angina attacks but does not relieve an attack that has already started. This standard-release tablet is usually taken three times a day, before or with meals, as prescribed. Swallow it whole with water.
Cutting down on salt, staying active within your limits, keeping a healthy weight, limiting alcohol and not smoking support heart health. Avoid grapefruit juice.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have a slow heartbeat or heart block, heart failure, very low blood pressure, or liver or kidney disease, and about other medicines you take, especially beta blockers, digoxin, statins, and certain antibiotics or antifungals. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Contact your doctor if you have a very slow pulse, fainting, marked dizziness, worsening breathlessness or ankle swelling. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
