Dicorate ER 500 Tablet is used to manage epilepsy. It is a single-ingredient anticonvulsant medicine containing sodium valproate (as divalproex) in an extended-release form.
This medicine is also used to prevent migraine attacks and to manage manic episodes in bipolar disorder. Swallow it whole in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop it suddenly, as this can trigger seizures; any change is made gradually.
Getting enough sleep, following a regular daily routine, managing stress and avoiding alcohol support seizure control alongside this medicine. Attend regular blood tests to check your liver function.
This medicine can seriously harm an unborn baby. Women who can become pregnant must use reliable contraception and should not take it during pregnancy unless there is no alternative; discuss any pregnancy plans with your doctor. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have liver problems, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Report severe stomach pain, vomiting, unusual tiredness or yellowing of the skin or eyes promptly. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
