CompositionDeviry SR Tablet is used to treat menstrual problems such as absent periods, heavy or irregular bleeding and endometriosis, and to protect the womb lining in women taking oestrogen after the menopause. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing medroxyprogesterone acetate, which belongs to a class of medicines called progestogens (female hormones).
This medicine acts like the natural hormone progesterone, controlling the growth and shedding of the womb lining. It is also used to bring on a delayed period when pregnancy has been ruled out. Take it exactly as prescribed; the number of days and the timing in your cycle depend on the condition being treated.
Keeping a record of your periods and any bleeding, eating a balanced diet and attending check-ups help your doctor review your treatment.
Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant, or have unexplained vaginal bleeding, liver disease, a history of blood clots or stroke, or breast or womb cancer. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have migraine, epilepsy, diabetes, depression, or heart or kidney disease, and about other medicines you take. Seek medical help straight away for pain or swelling in one leg, chest pain, sudden breathlessness, a sudden severe headache, vision changes, or yellowing of the skin or eyes. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
