Dalacin C Capsule is used to treat serious bacterial infections, including infections of the skin, soft tissues, bones, joints, chest and teeth. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing clindamycin, which belongs to a class of antibiotics called lincosamides.
This medicine is often used when other antibiotics are not suitable, for example in people who are allergic to penicillin. Swallow the capsule whole with a full glass of water to avoid irritation of the food pipe. Take it in the dose and for the full course prescribed by your doctor, even if you feel better early.
Getting enough rest and drinking plenty of fluids can support recovery. Keeping wounds clean and covered, and maintaining good oral hygiene during dental infections, can also help healing.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have a history of bowel problems such as colitis, liver or kidney disease, or allergies, and about any other medicines you take. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Contact your doctor straight away if you develop severe, watery or bloody diarrhoea during or after treatment, even several weeks later. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
