CompositionCorex DX Syrup is used to relieve a dry, irritating cough along with allergy symptoms such as sneezing, a runny nose and watery eyes. It is a combination medicine containing dextromethorphan, a cough suppressant, and chlorpheniramine, an antihistamine (anti-allergic).
This medicine is used for dry cough linked to throat irritation, colds, hay fever and other upper respiratory allergies, including cough that disturbs sleep. It is not meant for a chesty cough with a lot of mucus. Measure each dose with the cup provided and take it as prescribed by your doctor.
Sipping warm fluids, inhaling steam and avoiding smoke and dust can help soothe the throat and reduce coughing.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have asthma, glaucoma, difficulty passing urine, or liver disease, and about other medicines you take, especially antidepressants. It is not recommended for young children unless the doctor advises. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It can cause drowsiness, so avoid driving and alcohol. Contact your doctor if the cough lasts more than a week or comes with fever or breathlessness. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
