CompositionCovatil 500 Tablet is used to treat a broad range of bacterial infections throughout the body, including infections of the throat, sinuses, lungs, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues. It contains cefuroxime, a cephalosporin antibiotic, and also helps in the treatment of conditions such as bronchitis, gonorrhoea and Lyme disease.
Cefuroxime works by interfering with the synthesis of the bacterial protective cell wall, so the bacteria cannot survive or multiply, allowing the body's immune defences to clear the infection more effectively.
Take this tablet as directed, with or without food, and complete the full prescribed course, even if you start to feel better before the course is finished, to ensure the infection is fully cleared and to prevent antibiotic resistance.
Tell your doctor if you have a penicillin or cephalosporin allergy, a history of colitis, or kidney problems before starting this medicine. Report persistent loose motions (diarrhoea) during or after treatment.
