Cordarone X Tablet is used to treat and prevent serious abnormal heart rhythms, including atrial fibrillation and life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias. It is a single-ingredient antiarrhythmic medicine containing amiodarone.
It is usually prescribed when other treatments have not worked and is taken under close medical supervision. Take it in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor, and do not stop it suddenly. As it can build up in the body, your doctor will arrange regular checks of your lungs, liver, thyroid and eyes.
Avoid strong sunlight, as your skin can become very sensitive to light; cover up, wear sunglasses and use sunscreen. Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice, as they can affect how the medicine works.
Before starting, tell your doctor about any heart, lung, liver or thyroid problems, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take, as amiodarone interacts with many medicines. Report breathlessness, a persistent cough or yellowing of the skin promptly. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
